My Personality

I like to make people laugh. I love to watch comedians on YouTube. I like to listen, to share feelings, and to hear real-life stories. People say I have a generous heart. I am gentle, kind, loyal, and faithful.

I am a traditional conservative family man with faith in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. I am loyal to those I love. I protect my friends and family. I am romantic. I will respect and honor my marriage forever. My parents were loyal, faithful, and had a wonderful marriage together.

It is important to make appointments, but I am flexible and relaxed if more time is needed.

I am patient. When a person does not talk, I use careful and tactful questions, and I listen without inventing solutions. Sometimes a person will say they are ‘Fine’ or ‘Grand’ (through gritted teeth), when usually, they are not. I am ready to “batten down the hatches” and “ride out the storm.”

I have always lived in San Mateo County, California. I participated with a couple of summer Christian missions to Turkey (1990) and to the West Bank (1992). I visited relatives in Switzerland (1990) and friends in Egypt (1990). I would like to visit relatives in Ireland (paternal) and Sicily (maternal). I especially want to be in your country to meet your parents, siblings, relatives, friends, and to learn about your ancestors.

I have never been married. After high school and college, I focused on earning a lot of money programming database systems. Now, it is nearly impossible to find a woman in the U.S.A. as I described in my reasons to marry a faithful woman from your country. In California, we prioritize recreation and free time instead staying at home to raise a family. As you know from my profile, I love outdoor adventures. While I lost weight, walked, jogged, and ran foot races in 2014, Garmin Connect™ calculated my physiological age between 28 and 33.

After your country removes the travel restriction, I would like to take you to your favorite café near your home to know each other in person.

I use Google Translate from English to your language. You can use Google Translate from to any language you want. Then you can click on the copy icon before you paste it into your message app. At Google Translate, you can click on the speaker to listen to the language you choose, or you can click on the microphone to speak your sentences into Google Translate. https://translate.google.com/?hl=en&tab=rT

What I Like to Do

• Pray and study the Bible, lead men’s small-group Bible studies, teach children’s Sunday school lessons, tithe, go on overseas Gospel/construction missions, financially support overseas Christian missions and local Christian outreach, feed the homeless, and provide technical support for the Sunday praise and worship team.
• Cook for church events. Tea or coffee in the morning with a complete hot breakfast. I love to cook gourmet food from scratch. I can invent tasty meals from anything in the refrigerator and cabinets. My mother and all her six siblings were Sicilian and taught me original Sicilian recipes. I hope you like homemade Sicilian/Italian food. You can Google the Internet for your favorite Italian recipes or recipes from any country. I can cook just about anything you find. When I visited my older brother in Virginia, I learned to cook Thai food from his Thai wife.
• Hot soup, hot chocolate, BBQ, indoors by a warm fire after a day of adventure outside in the snow. Snowmobile, alpine ski, cross-country ski, mountaineering ski.
• Walk along a beach in the tropics. Snorkel, SCUBA, Spear fishing, Surfing. I live 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean (Half Moon Bay, California).
• Repair and remodel my house. I am in the process of rebuilding the lagoon-side wall, the master-bedroom balcony, the living-room deck, and the lower deck/boat dock.
• Walk, hike, jog, and run on wilderness trails, the beach, and on the track. Run in local foot races. Health monitor apps: while I lost weight, walked, jogged, and ran foot races in 2014, Garmin calculated my physiological age between 28 and 33.
• I was crowned the June 2015 – June 2016 TOPS King of California (over 6,000 members in California) for losing the most weight in 2014. I lost 67.2 pounds in eight months (2 pounds per week). I was also crowned the June 2015 – June 2016 International Winner in my weight class.
• Hiking, camping, backpacking, and mountaineering.
• Fishing in the ocean, lakes, and rivers.
• Competition Rowing that includes endurance races, time trials, stake racing, bumps racing, and the side-by-side format used in the Olympic games.
• Landscape gardening. Food gardening.
• I am an avid photographer with a Panasonic large format, low-light sensitive, 4K video and picture camera with the best tripod on the market; Manfrotto, made in Italy. My best photography skills are portrait, event, and landscape. I will create a portfolio of beautiful pictures of you, with your family, at your home, and with your friends.
• Play Pub and Man-Cave games, badminton, volleyball, ping-pong, tennis.
• Watch good movies in 4K UHD and Dolby Surround Sound.
• My favorite book is Pilgrim’s Progress. I cry when I watch the animated movie with my favorite songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcQvf3sKpcg Besides the Bible, Pilgrim’s Progress is the most read book in the entire world.
• Listen to good music, especially live music. Arena Rock. Gospel blues, Bluegrass, Folk, Barbershop, Christian country, Nashville sound, Country pop, Easy listening, Modern Jazz, R&B, and soul. Classical, Orchestral, Symphonic. Music written for the score of a play, musicals, showtunes. Ballroom dance, e.g., pasodoble, cha-cha-cha and others. Spirituals, hymns, praise & worship. Military music, marches, national anthems. Regional and national music, traditional music, oral traditions, sea shanties, work songs, nursery rhymes. I will buy an antique player piano or orchestrion.

My Father

My DNA ethnicity estimate is 13% Irish (paternal name Sheakley). My Sheakley ancestors are from the counties of Tipperary or Kilkenny (Sheakley). One of my Sheakley ancestors immigrated to the colonies in North America sometime during the last half of the 17th century.

Plantations and Penal Laws created harsh conditions for Catholics and Dissenters (Protestants who were separate from the Church of England). For many, emigration was the only option for survival. In the late 1600s and 1700s many Irish and Welsh Quakers and Scots-Irish Presbyterians departed for North America.

The Sheakley clan settled and populated in the far western region of North America. The Frame of Government in William Penn's 1682 land grant established free exercise of religion for all Christians in the Province of Pennsylvania. Most of my relatives live in Pennsylvania. My father, Edward Alexander Sheakley, was born in Linesville, Pennsylvania.

My father’s ancestor, James Sheakley (April 24, 1829 – December 11, 1917) from Pennsylvania, was an American Democrat politician who was the Governor of the District of Alaska from 1893 to 1897 at the beginning of the last U.S.A. gold rush of 1897. He was also a member of the United States House of Representatives from Pennsylvania from 1875 to 1877.

In June of 1963, when President John F. Kennedy visited Ireland, he gave a speech in Cork (within the region of the Sheakley clan) in which he said "Most countries send out oil or iron, steel or gold, or some other crop, but Ireland has had only one export and that is its people."

My Father, Edward Alexander Sheakley (July 16, 1925 – December 17, 2011), joined the U.S.A. Navy two weeks before his 18th birthday. He was a signalman on the USS LST-709 that helped liberate the Philippines from Japan; Leyte landings-November 1944; Palawan Island landings-January 1945; Visayan Island landings-March and April 1945; Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto-March 1945; and Brunei Bay operation-June 1945. Following the war, the USS LST-709 performed occupation duty in the Far East and saw service in China to repatriate Japanese to Japan until mid-March 1946. She returned to the United States and was decommissioned on 3 July 1946.

After his service in the U.S.A. Navy, he finished his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He joined the U.S.A. Coast Guard to inspect lighthouses on the East Coast of the U.S.A.. After marriage to our mother, he transferred to the U.S.A. Army Corp. of Civil Engineers in San Francisco, California, where I was born.

My Mother

My DNA ethnicity estimate is 50% Sicilian (maternal name Perricone). My mother’s parents, Giovanni (I was named in English “John” from my grandfather’s Sicilian name “Giovanni”) and Maria were married at age 15 and 14, respectively. They immigrated from Sicily to the U.S.A. through Ellis Island, New York in 1914. They settled in St. Louis, Missouri, where my mother was born; Angeline (Perricone) Sheakley (October 16, 1927 – December 29, 2018). My mother learned shorthand in secretarial school, was a civilian secretary for the U.S.A. Navy, Keith Cole Photography, and was a Sicilian gourmet cook. Cooking together, I learned her recipes.

My Parents and Siblings

My parents Edward Alexander Sheakley (July 16, 1925 – December 17, 2011) and Angeline (Perricone) Sheakley (October 16, 1927 – December 29, 2018), were married August 31, 1952 in Saint Louis, Missouri.

My older brother, Clark Alexander Sheakley was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, August 12, 1953. He lives with his wife, Naamkharng (Sanannok) Sheakley, from Thailand in Haymarket, Virginia, U.S.A. and provides Project Management services at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. They have one college-age son, Luke. Clark also has a college-graduate son, Edward, from a previous marriage with Diane (Spencer) Sheakley. I was born in San Francisco, California, December 31, 1956, I have never been married, and I have never had children. My younger brother, Anthony, was born in San Francisco, California, January 2, 1959. He lives with his wife, Denise, from Michigan in the Marina District of San Francisco, California, with no children.

We never had a sister; or so we thought until February 2019. Our mother had a baby girl before she was married. Our mother kept it a secret from us even after she died. Sometime in 2019, after an unknown woman completed a DNA test, she discovered that her mother is our mother. So, we really have a sister! I praise the Lord that I have an older sister, Barbara born March 28, 1952. My two brothers do not want to talk with her. Barbara cries about that. Unfortunately, Barbara discovered that our mother is her mother five months after our mother died. Barbara talks with our mother's sister, my aunt Mary (Perricone) Herman. Aunt Mary is my Godmother. Aunt Mary is just like our mother and Aunt Mary says that Barbara has a similar personality with our mother. Barbara looks very much like our mother.

My History

In 1975, I graduated from Carlmont High School, Belmont, California. I ran long-distance events in track and cross-country. I was a high-school mountaineering leader for two summer breaks.

In 1991, I graduated from Humboldt State University, Arcata, California, with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Business Administration with an emphasis phase in Oceanography.

After graduation, on a high-payment contract basis, I provided Database Systems Analysis and Applications Development services for 17 years in the Silicon Valley, San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose Bay Area, and in Sacramento, California. I was awarded “Employee of the Year.”

On September 9, 1999, I bought one of our parent’s houses.

My Preferences for a Match

I would like to marry a woman that has a relationship with God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. She loves to read and study God’s Word. She helps her parents, siblings, relatives, friends, widows, the poor, the crippled, disfigured, diseased, or handicapped. She loves fellowship with the body of believers. She loves her enemies. She believes that having a lot of children is a blessing from God. She has traditional family values. She loves the art of homemaking (https://www.focusonthefamily.com/parenting/the-art-of-homemaking/). She is a virgin. She does not smoke.

She wants traditional courtship. The father and daughter will sit in the living room where the suitor will stay standing unless given permission to sit. If the suitor wishes to make a good first impression, he must already have pasalubong or gifts for the girl's family. At the living room, though the daughter is present, the father will do all the talking and interrogate the suitor about his family history, aspirations, current economic status, and intentions with his daughter.

• Crippled or disfigured by an accident is okay.
• Missing, broken, crooked, or rotted teeth is okay.
