Ten years ago my life was headed in a different direction. My top concerns were money, status, and prestige. I was driven by a powerful entrepreneurial spirit. I was arrogant. Look out Donald Trump, look out Mark Zuckerberg. My software was going to change the world. My brains were finally going to make me rich. I was going to be somebody. Me, me, me.

Luckily God then intervened.

I made some wrong choices. I took some shortcuts. I ended up falling on my face. I hit a very low point in my life and it was my own entire fault. I then had a choice. I could get up and dust off the scratches and go back at it where I was so close to achieving success or I could listen to the voice of God in my heart. My heart won. It was time to look at myself as I truly was. It was time to go to work on myself. Money and prestige is not what I’m about. I am not about me, me, me. The real me simply wants to live in harmony with the world, loving others, caring about children, animals, our resources, and the environment. The real me has humility and thinks less of myself and more about helping others and has a genuine desire to be of service to my fellow man.

So I went to work on myself. It has been a self-help, self-improvement period that continues to this day. I lost 50 pounds. I came out of seclusion. I started waking up early and physically working hard all day. I began praying. I began meditating so that I could hear what God was telling me. I became less interested in myself and more interested in others. In fact anytime I have a problem now I simply turn my attention to someone I can help and I find instant peace. Altruism is the order of business for me now. I seek to use virtuous tools in my life especially humility which enhances all other virtues. I ask God daily for humility and He grants it to the precise level of my sincerity. It is a new life for me now. It is a life guided by God.

For many years my life has been colorful. I’ve been to many places and I have known a wide array of people. Life has been good. I certainly do not regret the past. My future will be different though. I am thankful now that I did not yet reach great success like I had wanted. Life would have become one big party and I would have enveloped myself in the physical world. This would not be good.

So for now I will be taking it slow. My feet are planted on solid ground. If you have endured this entire profile there might be a reason. In which case I would hope to hear from you.

Wow. I wrote this several years ago. So much has changed. I run an international non profit now. We are doing so much work for East Africa.

She is a stable woman who is wise from what she has learned in life. She is not guided by superstitions, talk shows, or fear. She knows what values are important and operates on those values. She has read a book or two and can keep an intelligent conversation. She is aware and concerned for things beyond those that are just within her local world. She cares about people, animals, and the Earth. I do not believe in making animals our property, but I cannot change the world. I am a tolerant man and I do try to adapt without sacrificing my beliefs. If she has a pet I will watch how she treats the animal. It will tell me whether she is out to give love, or thinks only of receiving it.
