About Me
Been there. Done that. Got the T-Shirt. I still work. There is not much left on my bucket list. I know who I am. I am comfortable in my own skin. I want a whole person who wants to share a part of someone's life. I can’t be the missing part of a person. Two halves don’t make a whole.
I spent a lot of time outdoors and I can handle myself alone in the wilderness. I’ve climbed the Dolomites, trekked across a glacier in Austria, and wandered around Snoqualmie pass. I've been in a tent when it's 20 below. I’ve seen the night sky over the Badlands where the only light is from the stars. I’ve watched a curtain of rain as it descended on the desert north of El Paso. I’ve swam the Rio Chagres and seen the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans on the same day by truck. I’ve sat through a typhoon on one of the islands north of Okinawa. I’ve seen a mongoose kill a cobra. I’ve been to Neuschwanstein to see the fairy tale castle. I’ve walked the hallowed ground at Concord and see the darkest side of man at Dachau. I prefer technical museums like the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim. I see mountains every morning from my home. I intend to enjoy that view for most of my remaining days. I still enjoy traveling but I like to spend more time exploring the destination than on the journey.
I like tinkering with things. I feel naked without my Leatherman tool and my Swiss Army Knife. I tend to collect things I can fix, but I’m downsizing and letting go of unfinished projects. I like to tinker with my cars. I try but I am not a gardener. I have a brown thumb. I have managed to keep some herbs alive on my window sill for a while. I am a high intermediate skier.I learned to ski on Silvretta 501s with leather Hanwag boots.
I don’t smoke. I quit drinking. Though I was a happy drunk, I made the people around me miserable. My broken ankle never healed properly. I can still get around but I don’t run and I am a not as active as I used to be.
I am not very organized at home. The people I work with would be surprised to hear that. I do cook, but not as often as I should.
I'm getting back to reading the printed page. I read too much internet news. I am conservative and I voted for the current president.
